Mr. Balogun Waliu is a seasoned Human Resources and Administration professional with about two decades of progressive experience spanning human resource management, employee and industrial relations, talent management, performance management, administration, organisational development, learning and development, and HR strategy.

He currently serves as AGM, Human Resources & Administration at Nigerian Aluminium Extrusions Limited (NIGALEX), where he provides leadership across the Company’s human resources and administrative functions. In this role, he works closely with Management and business leaders to ensure that the Company’s people, policies, systems and organisational capabilities are aligned with its business objectives.

Balogun’s career has been built largely within the manufacturing and FMCG sectors, giving him practical experience in fast-paced, operationally demanding and highly structured business environments. His professional journey includes significant experience with the Tolaram Group, particularly De-United Foods Industries Limited (Indomie) and Green Packaging, as well as senior HR and administrative responsibilities within the Quantum Group before joining NIGALEX.

Throughout his career, Balogun has developed broad expertise across the HR function. His experience covers talent acquisition and management, workforce planning, employee and industrial relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, payroll administration, learning and development, employee engagement, HR policy development, statutory compliance, employee welfare and organisational development.

One of the areas that defines his professional approach is his belief that HR should be closely connected to business performance. For him, HR is not simply about managing employee records or administering policies; it is about creating the right environment, systems and capabilities for people to perform and for the organisation to achieve its objectives.

At NIGALEX, he has been involved in strengthening and institutionalising HR systems and processes, including HR policies and procedures, employee handbook development, performance management, job grading and promotion frameworks, succession planning, employee welfare, HR digitalisation, attendance management, overtime administration, training and development, and other people-management systems.

Balogun also brings considerable experience in employee and industrial relations. He has worked closely with employees, Management, trade unions and external labour stakeholders on workplace relations, collective agreements, employee grievances, disciplinary matters, negotiations and other employment-related issues. His approach is centred on maintaining a balance between organisational requirements and fair, respectful and constructive employee relations.

His experience also extends to HR compliance and administration, including employee documentation and records, pension and statutory compliance, labour-related requirements, health and safety coordination, employee welfare, corporate administration and engagement with relevant regulatory and industry stakeholders.

Academically, Balogun combines advanced education with extensive practical HR experience. He holds M.Sc. and M.Phil. qualifications, is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (ACIPM) and is affiliated with the Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITAD). He is currently pursuing his PhD at Babcock University, further deepening his interest in research and evidence-based approaches to Human Resource Management.

His academic and professional interests include Green strategic human resource management, employee relations, organisational behaviour, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement, workplace practices and organisational effectiveness.
